I have had a simple wordpress page for a year - for me it is easy to start but complex to make great. This book has been extremely helpful to me in my ability to make my blogs better and attract more readers.
I have learned about things that I never would have discovered on my own and have accomplished them.
I highly recommend it.
A fine, affordable book that provides helpful tips. At times, though, the book seemed like it was written more as an advertisement to tell users the author's personal bias about Go Daddy . com, and taking excessive time in the book to rave about the quality of that company's customer service, etc. The tone of the book is more like a blog post from that was turned into a book.
I am in the midst of changing my website from Blogger to Wordpress. This book definitely helped me with basics such as meta tags, SEO, plugins and themes. I thoroughly enjoyed the author's sense of humor! He will keep you alert and interested in a topic that can be confusing for some who are not used to blogging. I recommend this book for beginning Wordpress users who need a fast-track learning tool for Wordpress. Can be used for future reference as well.
Want to get a website or blog up and running in a short time? Not sure whether you can do it or not? Technology got you frustrated? Then this is the book for you. I have a degree in computer science and it wasn't until I read this book that I could get going. I manage two websites and wanted to rehost them in Wordpress but couldn't figure out how to use it. Then I read this book. Step by step instructions and examples are the greatest. Both of my websites are now redesigned and I get more visits/hits than before. Definitely a good purchase!
I must say, I thought this would be one of those books you would zoom by and read things you would already know.
For a cheap kindle book basically, you gain a LOT of information.
The author basically tells you exactly what to do, exactly what to download and whatnot, and isn't vague. This is straight to the point, and it tells you where to go. So if it's your first time, you would definitely not be confused, the author is very detailed. I was impressed.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to start a website.
If you want a website/blog very much like every other Wordpress site, and don't want to know what is beneath the surface, this book will do it. The author doesn't spend much time on why things work the way they do -- they just do.
It isn't very expensive, so it is worth the money. They really don't get into the .com / .org bifurcation, or how the themes vary. It's very much like instruction on how to play an adventure game. Works better for a feeling person than for someone who wants to understand -- to master Wordpress.
