He wants nothing more than to make their way home to England. Yet he must stop at Urquhart and deliver the news that the Durwood chieftain, his sons, and his daughter's betrothed died in the battle. As if that isn't difficult enough, he must also inform Maggie Durwood that she is now his ward and must come with him.
Before he can even deliver his messages, Maggie attempts to keep him and his men from her castle. She dares to shoot him in the leg with her arrow, foolishly risking the outraged retaliation of his soldiers. From that moment on, he knows the two of them will butt heads. She will not dissuade him from his duty of dragging her all the way to England and of finding her a new betrothed. His has not survived the Crusade to be brought down by a strong-willed Scottish lass.

The book had 3680 locations on my kindle. The book was about a 19 year old, virgin, named Maggie and a man, named Nicholas. Maggie was a defiant, opinionated girl, who loved to ride horses and shoot arrows. Nicholas was a forceful and dominant man. The book is set in the 1200's. The book contained several spankings, with various objects, nothing too harsh in my opinion. The book also contained a few decent sex, oral sex scenes and a bit of drama near the end. Maggie's ready acceptance of being spanked and asking for a spanking in the end, irritated me a little, but over all the characters were ok. Overall the book was ok.Product details

When her Father and two older brothers went to war for the English King, Maggie worked very hard to keep their home or castle safe. Her father and oldest brother was killed in this war, but she did not know the fate of Brodie her favorite brother. Maggie was betrothed to an English gentleman who was also killed in the war. Nicholas Neville, Lord of Middleham fought with the Durwood chieftain, and they became very close friends. He promised to go to Urquhart and inform Maggie that he has been appointed as her guardian, and she must leave her home and clan and travel to his home until he or the king has chosen another betrothed for her. Both Maggie and Nicholas were so battle weary. She was determined to keep him out of Urquhart, all she could see was English warriors. He had a duty to take her with him and, both being stubborn and strong willed they fought against each other. The English king was determined to to betroth English Lords with Scottish Ladies, or Scottish warriors with English ladies, to combine the two country's more favorably. Although Maggie and Nicholas are both stubborn and butt heads often, they soon grow to respect each other very much. After the betrothed of Nicholas does not come to pass Maggie and Nicholas fall in love themselves. When the king sends a letter stating they should get married they did not fight the request. They would always butt heads but they were very much in love.
It was a great story I have read it over and over. I enjoy it every time I read it.
A wonderful read! Not only lots of good spanks but a truly enjoyable story line, and well written. I particularly liked that the sex scenes were described in a tasteful manor.
Read this in one day. First read by this author. Not disappointed. Past reviews pretty spot on. I personally like it when the hot alpha male takes his feisty woman in hand and spanks her with his hand and then they have some hot make up sex. This book however depicts the time period when this form of punishment was used strictly as a way to keep women in line. Using a wooden paddle and leather strap. If this offends you don't read it. I enjoyed the two main characters and their chemistry and I am going to read the next story about the brother.
Loved the book and the personalities of the characters. Maggie is strong minded and I like that in female characters. Always love a good love story.
I love this author and have read as many of her books as I can find. Maggie takes place in a time of warriors and castles, when women didn't have much say in who they were to marry, and certainly could not be trusted to run a holding of their own. Enter alpha warrior who will take over whether Maggie wants him to or not.
I give this book 3.5 stars. I am not opposed to erotic spanking, if that is the person "thing". But really.... the heroine had been disciplinarian spanked four times within the first few chapters. It kind of got tedious when a secondary character also was spanked for disciplinarian reasons too. Then I found it odd that the hero then found it necessary to punish two other women, besides the heroine, by spanking too. The heroine was also spanked by her father and brothers. Come on....she is nineteen years old. One or two spankings for punishment is enough, then move on to the pleasure erotica. This book was saturated by punishment spanking,it was way too much.
I am truly hoping for a follow up on Brody. Another great book by starla kaye awesome as usual please write more I would love to hear more about Brody. Good job starla
